Anthony Striplen is a San Francisco Bay Area-based artist whose work has been featured in PhotoPlace Gallery, SxSE Gallery and The Chateau Gallery. His work has been published in SHOTS photography magazine and the PhotoPlace gallerie’s book for the “Fill the Frame” exhibition. His work also appeared as the banner image for exhibition, “Fill the Frame” at PhotoPlace Gallery. Additionally, Striplen’s work is in private collections and has appeared in Lenscratch, a photography journal daily publication.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I create art with a camera. For 43 years I created art with a clarinet and performed professionally with a major opera orchestra. The years of music-making has left me with a vast well of memories. I dive into this reservoir of memories to make my photographs. My images explore the deep links between past melodies, childhood recollections, and my current realizations. Music, family, places and experiences intertwine, conjuring a tapestry of emotions. While these photographs grow from a deeply personal space, it is my goal to evoke a universal chord in the viewer.
